How do you optimize revenue for affiliates? The simple answer is with data analytics and Business Intelligence. The reality is that analytics and BI sound impressive but most affiliates don't use data to their advantage.

For years, the most data savvy affiliates have been the SEO crowd. They don't always just focus on trying to get more traffic but understand the importance of quality of traffic. Some keywords can get you volume but volume doesn't mean anything if the revenue is low.

What makes affiliate marketing challenging in 2026 is that affiliates might feel like their traffic is less predictable than it used to be. SEO affiliates are not gone but they are not as plentiful as they used to be. SEO itself seems to be evolving and now more people are calling it GEO meaning Generative Engine Optimization.

I definitely don't believe so. I talk to affiliates that have given up on SEO because Google hasn't been kind to them and I also talk to numerous SEO professionals that tell me, this is the best time to be in SEO and affiliate marketing today.

I wanted to share conversations that were happening at conferences but nobody was publishing. I've had some fascinating convos over the years and I wanted to document these discussions of what people are both talking about and the things they are working on. For me to get the pulse of the affiliate marketing industry, I get to interview a wide array of people and that includes people that work in AI, data, Business Intelligence and analytics.

I would love to say that listening to this podcast would answer everything you need, but it won't. My best answer is to network, try new things, fail and if you're lucky, gain some mentors along the way. Find a topic you're passionate about and create a useful product or service that can stand on its own without needing to be fully reliant on search engines like Google.
