[00:00:00] John Wright: Welcome to the affiliate bi podcast today I'm gonna have a very short chat to talk about a LinkedIn newsletter that I've done recently Which is talking about the topic of why do affiliates not use affiliate stats trackers?

[00:00:15] John Wright: So let's start. I'm gonna go into a couple different points, but I'm gonna start with the elephant in the room, which is

[00:00:21] John Wright: affiliate stats aggregator Almost no one's searching for this keyword. I mean if you do search for it, you're probably gonna find stats drone But to be honest, not a lot of people are looking for that. They know what they want whether they're an affiliate Sseo paid media affiliate networks affiliate agencies for the ones that want to get all their data. They're already thinking

[00:00:42] John Wright: Yeah, I want this but it's unfortunate that

[00:00:46] John Wright: companies like us stats drone Nitty stats vunix rowdy they don't come to mind So we have to do a lot of proactive marketing to kind of grab their attention and make people think hey This this could be a solution that does it so simply put there's just not a enough product awareness on the market And I think a way product awareness might happen a bit more is if there is either bigger players coming in the space Which I mean I'm kind of asking for for trouble in saying it or if those bigger players start acquiring the smaller companies and Basically putting a spotlight on it So I'm gonna give you a little a few tips that there are some spotlights that have happened

[00:01:23] John Wright: So what I one thing I know that a whim which is one of the largest affiliate networks in the world. I've read a

[00:01:31] John Wright: Newsletter or a press release that they invested in we can track so we can track is a pretty cool

[00:01:38] John Wright: Stats tracker that focuses a lot on post backs to the last time I checked and also Impact comm they raised I think 150 million at a 1.5 billion valuation a couple years ago And the first thing they did was they acquired affluent dot.io and trackonomics. These are basically some data tools for affiliates I mean when they're acquiring those two companies, it really tells you what they value in those companies So yeah simply put I think there's more awareness that we all collectively could do and I do know that a lot of affiliates Try building this in-house mostly because they either don't know we exist or maybe they've tried us and they're not hacked with some of the different

[00:02:18] John Wright: Results that they've got so I'll put that on the side the other part of the equation which I think is something I want to tap into is Some affiliates have stated that they're a little concerned about their data privacy and they should be I mean Why do affiliate programs? Commonly like to use proprietary and build their own affiliate program. I mean that software is not cheap That requires one or two people full-time Just to build it and then maintain it and that's a lot of work when you could easily spend thousands of dollars a month using Like a my affiliates and income access a sell expert a refer on a Raven track afnook

[00:02:58] John Wright: You know and and many more like even ever flow It's like why reinvent the wheel when these companies do this work day in and day out and they're amazing at it Well, the same thing happens when it comes to affiliates. I mean they want to own their data they want to make sure people can't see their data because they believe that this data could be used against them like imagine if Staff strong was also an affiliate. I mean Technically, we'd have the incentive to look at the data now I'll tell you that we don't look at the data because we treat this very seriously and we've actually built a couple different products where You can host the data on your own server But we also built what we call dido which is basically an on-premise version of the app now

[00:03:38] John Wright: Some of our competitors don't have this

[00:03:41] John Wright: So when they don't have it it goes full circle back to can I trust these companies? So I think there's it's gonna take some time for more affiliates to trust us I think collectively we need to make even more noise So people know that we exist and I think there is an opportunity here where we can just kind of Tap into this and make something bigger and better and going how do we educate the market? Such that you know, we can just do a better job and having people know that we are these tools We exist and we can make your lives a lot easier so I think there's a lot more product awareness we can do and I think that's gonna require a Collaborative effort where it's like why do you want to collaborate with your competitors?

[00:04:20] John Wright: Like for us, do we really want to work with our competitors? Well, I think you know what? It's probably best that we do if we work with our Top rivals like the nifty stats the the funics the remedies the afkleks I mean rising tides lift all boats at least I think they do So what if we can change this narrative that less than 1% of affiliates globally will use a stats tracker Can we make this 5 or 10% I think if we all do that We're all gonna benefit from this and then we need to make this a new normal. So if you're with me

[00:04:53] John Wright: Yeah, of course, we want you the affiliate as a customer But at the same time, you know, we just want more awareness So if you've got some feedback of what we could do to be better You need to tell us because we'll listen and we'll fix it We'll do what it takes to earn the trust and earn the business and at the end of the day Our agenda is not just to have a successful business and be happy with it but I mean we've really built these tools because we're trying to solve problems in the market and Anyone that builds tools like what we do Usually they care about solving problems and they genuinely want to help affiliates. So

[00:05:29] John Wright: Your business is our business and our business is making you better more profitable. So yeah, join us in the discussion It's on LinkedIn. You can always chat with us at through email and more importantly You can always find us at the next conference usually wearing purple. So looking forward to seeing you
