Is Salesforce Cooked? Vibe Coding Your Own CRM in 4 Hours
About This Episode
AI tools have changed the game. In this episode, I break down why “vibe coding” your own CRM is not only possible, but easier than most people think. With modern cloud tools, you can replicate core CRM features in hours, not months. I share why SaaS giants like Salesforce may be more vulnerable than they appear, how on-premise data ownership is becoming critical, and why companies that don’t start building their own internal tools could get left behind. 2026 is going to be disruptive and most aren’t ready.

John Wright: Welcome to Revenue Optimization with StatsDrone. This affiliate marketing podcast is brought to you by Affiliate Track, which is an affiliate link research tool and affiliate finder. And also brought to you by StatsDrone, the best stats and analytics tool for affiliates, agencies, affiliate networks, and affiliate programs. And welcome to Revenue Optimization with StatsDrone, brought to you of course by StatsDrone, and also another product that we've been working on called Affiliate Track, which is finding
John Wright: and mapping the world of affiliates, linking to pretty much any operator you can think of. And we've also got another software sponsor that came on board recently, IGsuite, which is IGsuite.com. These guys are building pretty crazy affiliate software for operators. They're getting a lot of companies switching, so if you haven't heard about them before, you will hear about them now. And the topic I want to talk about is vibe coding your way to building your own CRM. And why do I want this as a topic? Well, I've been building a lot of my own products for the last five months, I'd say,
John Wright: using a lot of cloud code, building things in lovable for dashboards. And the things that you're able to build are just unbelievable. And I'm seeing a lot of discussions on places like X and LinkedIn, where people are saying companies like Salesforce are going to be rocked and just ripped apart with AI tools. My strong opinion, it's only a matter of time before someone at Google just says, hey, here's a Salesforce replacement. We just built it for you. Maybe it's even going to be open source, or it's going to cost next to nothing. I think these tools are just going to become far more accessible, because if you basically
John Wright: just take the screenshots or the core features of what you need in a CRM, you put that in a cloud and you've got it made. The only thing you're going to need is security on your side, but this is where things get interesting. So there's a lot of people that are saying, what is going to become important for this year or next year, or just right now? And a lot of the answers are starting to say on-prem. On-premise means that you basically own your data. So right now, if you're with Salesforce and you've got all your customer data in Salesforce, what happens if they get hacked? Whose fault is it?
John Wright: Sure, you might be able to maybe consider litigation against Salesforce, but that's your company data. You're the one who's now potentially at risk of exposing your own client's data, and this could become a problem. So I'm not saying it's going to be safer to do it yourself, but I think there's going to be a lot of companies that when they know how to do security themselves, they're going to be, you know what? I can't have this sitting on the cloud. It needs to be in our own infrastructure. You could still build it on your own cloud, but you don't want to be at mercy to say, oh, by the way, all these companies, they had all their data exposed, you name it.
John Wright: And not only that, it's also expensive software. I think tools like Salesforce and different types of CRMs, they've been kind of good. I've never been a fan of them, but I've always thought it was really cool to use software like Monday that could actually, in my opinion, build a better version of that. And now you're able to basically vibe code your way into building whatever you want. So I'm here to say that I strongly believe you can actually look at every SAS company right now and think, what does it look like to build it with AI? How is someone going to vibe code their way and be a competitor?
John Wright: I think this is going to make SAS companies potentially cheaper. It's going to put a lot of them in a really uncomfortable zone. And I think companies need to adapt. And I think when it comes to even what we do, it's we feel like this is a race. It's like, do we want someone to try to replace what we do? Or can we keep building useful features to the point where they're like, you know what, we can do this, but it's going to take so much time that it's not worth the effort. And that's where it gets interesting. I think when it comes to replicating your own CRM, that doesn't need to take a lot of time. I've heard a lot of people say you can do this in a weekend. You could even do it in a single day.
John Wright: I actually think you could do it in less than four hours. So I'm here to say like, I think this vibe coding stuff, it's real. There's going to be maybe some pain points where people start building stuff and the security part is not covered well. But I think if you've got a really good dev team that knows the security component, then you're basically going to look at this as going, how do we become more secure? And the answer to that is building your own products and replacing them. Another example would be live chat. It's I've thought about this and said, wait a minute, we could actually build our own live chat service. And at some point in time are, I don't want to mention who we're using, but the software
John Wright: we're using at some point, it's going to become very expensive. Like every time you add an agent, your cost goes up. So the second you start getting into a thousand dollar a month territory, you're not going to start thinking, can I replace this software with something else? And I know in that case of live chat, the answer is definitely yes. And I know exactly how to not just vibe code the same thing, but to also build the same power, which is like a vector search where you can search for conversations and connect them to, here we go again, another CRM where you can connect all your telegram and your
John Wright: WhatsApp and your email and your teams combos and put them in a single place. So yeah, I think we're going to have a fun 2026. We're going to see insane disruption. And I don't think most people are ready for it. And the ones that are ready for it, they are basically doing what I'm saying. It's basically, if you're not building your own stuff right now, it's you're kind of probably being left behind. So I hope that's helpful to someone, but I'm just kind of putting my timestamp on this year. It's you look at the, let me see right now.
John Wright: The Salesforce Inc stock price, it's gone down quite a bit in a very short period of time. Just going to look at the one month in one month, it's dropped 20% and five days it's up. But I mean, that's a major drop in one month. I just think this is going to keep going down. This is not a stock that I would invest in personally. This is not investment advice. But if I was to be excited about where to put money, it's I think AI tools are cool, but I kind of see like the big companies just getting bigger. Like look at what I think maybe that's kind of like a safe bet if you were to consider
John Wright: it and once again, it's not investment advice. So there you have it. It's I think Salesforce is going to be a doomed CRM tool. I also believe their Tableau software is also going to be doomed because you can vibe code your own custom data viz. So you don't need to pay that expensive license. You also don't need to hire that expensive person to build and maintain Tableau dash boards. Yeah, the new world is here.
